Rev. Dr. Carl E. Abrahamsen, Jr, 84, of West Hartford, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, pastor, and mentor graduated into the presence of Jesus on June 8, 2017. He ascended from us in a peaceful state surrounded by loved ones as we sang hymns of praise to the Lord, prayed and wept. Carl was a loving and peaceful man. His love for his wife Grace and his family knew no bounds. His last words were for the care of his wife Grace and his final act was a goodbye kiss for her after 62 years of marriage, knowing they would be reunited in heaven. Carl served our Lord and Savior for his entire life as a Pastor for over 40 years. He led churches in New York, New Jersey, and Chicago, retiring from full-time service after his ministry at Calvary Church in West Hartford. During his retirement, he served as an interim Pastor for several churches in the greater Hartford area. His love and life's work positively impacted thousands of lives. Those who love him are too great to number. "Well done, good and faithful servant!" Matthew 25:23 Carl lives on through his adored wife Grace; three sons John Abrahamsen and wife Sarah of Groton MA, David Abrahamsen and wife Karen of West Hartford and Peter Abrahamsen of East Hartland, as well as his cherished grandchildren Travis, Phoebe, Nicole, and Luke; his sisters Alice Sundstrom of West Hartford, Virginia Giarnese of Torrington, and extended family. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, June 18th, 3 pm at Valley Community Baptist Church, 590 West Avon Rd, Avon. Contributions may be made to the Carl Abrahamsen Memorial Fund, to benefit Grace in the future. c/o Simsbury Bank, 27 Dale Road, Avon, CT 06001. The Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center of Avon is caring for the arrangements.
