Dorothy Mae Adams, 91, of Agawam, MA, passed away peacefully Wednesday October 11, 2017 at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT after suffering a fall. Born on July 16, 1926 in Springfield, MA, she was daughter of the late Howard and May (Hanson) Bliss. Dorothy was the wife of 71 years of Roger G. Adams, Sr., of Suffield, CT, son of George and Kate (Gundry) Adams. Dot or Dottie, as she was called, worked as a hairdresser and during WWII at Springfield Armory. Dottie also helped in the family business, Pleasant Valley Glads & Dahlias, West Suffield, CT. She was a loving, caring wife and mom, very sharp until the end, hard-working, well organized, a levelheaded thinker, patient, kind, and loved by all whom knew her. She enjoyed gladiolus society events and traveling to North American Gladiolus Council National Conventions. Dot loved oil painting and refinishing family furniture; she closely followed the daily news and men’s and women’s golf. She is survived by her sister, Lillian Faudree (William); her two sons, Dr. Roger G. Adams Jr. and his wife Emily (Dickinson) of West Suffield and Gary W. Adams and his wife Karen (Riley), of West Suffield; two grandsons, Bryan Adams (Michelle) and Dr. Thomas Adams (Lani); and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her older sister, Marilyn Osgood. Dorothy’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 10:30 - 11:30 AM at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. N. (Rt. 159), Suffield followed by funeral services at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in West Suffield Cemetery, West Suffield.
