Deanna L. (Kinaman) Hawver, 80, of South Windsor, beloved wife of the late Gerald Hawver, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Allen, TX, on Saturday, March 31, 2018. Born in Albany, NY, daughter of the late Arie V. Kinaman and Gertrude E. (Fitzgerald) Kinaman, she grew up in Albany and lived in Chicago, Flushing NY, East Hartford, South Windsor and Monroe, and then returned to South Windsor some 25 years ago. Deanna was a graduate of the Vincentian Institute Albany, New York and, earlier in her life, competed in Roller Skate Dancing Competitions. She was a longtime member of Wapping Community Church in South Windsor and was a member of their choir and Covent Care group, who ministered to people of the church in need of assistance. For 22 years, she was a Tour Reservation Specialist at Post Road Stages in South Windsor, retiring in 2013. She loved birds, especially cardinals, and recently spent quality time with her daughter birdwatching in Texas. Deanna is survived by her daughter, Kimberly James and her husband Ryan of Allen, TX; her son, Jeffrey Hawver of South Windsor; two granddaughters, Kaitlyn Elizabeth James and her husband Isaac Maxmen, and Rebecca Leigh James. She is also survived by her longtime companion George Gates. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary Jane Mann. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 6, 10 a.m., at Wapping Community Church, 1790 Ellington Rd., South Windsor. Burial will follow in Wapping Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, April 5, 5-7 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor.
