Catherine “Kay” McGee McDonald, 85, wife of the late William F. McDonald passed peacefully in her sleep early Tuesday morning, May 15, 2018 at her home in West Yarmouth, MA. She was born on September 7, 1932 to Robert McGee and Elizabeth (Keough) McGee of Pawtucket, RI. She was the sister of the late Barbara Turgeon of South Attleboro, MA She attended Sacred Heart High School and was a graduate of Memorial Hospital School of Nursing both in Pawtucket, RI. A former nursing supervisor at St Francis Hospital in Hartford and the Connecticut Department of Corrections in Somers, she retired in 1992 and then worked part-time at Kimberly Hall in Windsor and St. Joseph’s Residence in Enfield. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Enfield and president of St. Joseph’s School PTA, she was active in Cub Scouts and Girls Scouts and served on The Town Committee for Redevelopment of Thompsonville. She was a board member of the Enfield Mental Health Center in its formative years. She is survived by her five children, Elizabeth K. McDonald of Santa Fe NM, William J. McDonald (Barbara) of Westport, CT, Roberta A. Langan (Mark) of Rocky Hill CT, Patricia A. Spillane (Jeffrey) of Yarmouth Port, MA and Steven J. McDonald (Suzanne) of Framingham MA. Her grandchildren are Sarah and William C. McDonald of Westport, CT and Patrick, Amelia and Thomas Spillane of Yarmouth Port, MA. Kay moved to Enfield in 1956 and moved to West Yarmouth, MA in 2012 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She lived the last six years of her life close to the sea which she loved. Kay spent summers on her beloved Block Island from 1937 up until her last voyage on her 82nd birthday in 2014. She attended her son Steven’s wedding in September when she saw all of her children and grandchildren. It was then that she welcomed Suzanne McDonald’s sons Glen and Malik to the McDonald clan. Her family will receive friends Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 6-8 PM at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 433 East St. N. (Rt. 159), Suffield, CT Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 10 AM at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home. Kay will join her late husband Bill at the Enfield St. Cemetery, Enfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Felician Sisters, 1315 Enfield St., Enfield CT 06082.
