Carolyne Anna (Weilbacher) Rahm, 94 years old, died peacefully on June 22, 2017 at the Cherry Brook Nursing Home with Bill, her husband of 74 years, at her side. Carolyne, also called Dolly by her family, was born in Queens, NY, on October 25, 1922. She is predeceased by her beloved son Steven, and her brothers Fred and Warren Weilbacher. Carolyne is survived by her devoted husband, William V. Rahm, her daughter Diane Nattrass, her son William Rahm, Jr. and his wife Rebecca, and her son Gary Rahm and Suzanne Szupiany; her grandchildren: Rob Nattrass and Charlie Fraley, Steven Nattrass and his wife Kelly, Julia Shingadia and her husband Raj, Kristen Rahm, Eric Rahm and his wife Kelly, Stephanie Rahm, and Amy Rahm; and her great-grandchildren: Christopher, Thomas, Emma, Emery, Cole, and Ainsley Nattrass, and Dilan, Gavin, and Callan Shingadia; and ten nieces and nephews. Carolyne was graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Queens, NY. After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper in New York City, NY. She and Bill met 79 years ago at Rosedale Lutheran Church where they both sang in the choir. They married in 1942. Carolyne raised her family in Lynbrook, NY, Valley Stream, NY, Norwalk, CT, and Bangor, ME, retiring with her husband to Simsbury, CT. She was active in the PTA and the church. She was a Sunday School teacher at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Norwalk, Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bangor, and St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Avon. At St. Matthew's Carolyne was also an altar guild member, an usher, and a "happy hooker," using her considerable knitting skills for newborns and needy children. In her spare time, she knit afghans, sweaters, hats, and mittens for her children and grandchildren. Carolyne worked part-time as a bookkeeper and sales person in Norwalk, CT, and Bangor, ME, as she raised her children. She traveled with her husband to many states, especially to places where her grown children lived. She enjoyed traveling to attend her grandchildren's weddings, graduations, and other special occasions. All are welcome to a memorial service at 10AM on Saturday, July 1st at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 224 Lovely St., Avon, CT 06001. The Rev. William White will officiate the memorial service. A private burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk at the convenience of the family. Carolyne's family kindly asks that no flowers be purchased for the family, and that any contributions in Carolyne's memory be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
