Carol Ann ( McClain) DeVita, 72, of Farmington, beloved wife of George A. DeVita, Jr. for 44 years, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Carl McClain, she was raised in East Hartford. Carol received her BA in Elementary Education from Central CT State University and her MA from St. Joseph's College in Special Education. She taught at the Gengras Center at St. Joseph's College and retired from the Intensive Education Academy, West Hartford in 2005. Carol was an avid reader and she was involved in RCIA and baptisms at St. Ann's. Besides her husband George, she leaves her son George A. DeVita, III of Farmington; three grandchildren Aubrey Katherine, Connor McClain, and Cameron James DeVita; a brother Ron McClain (Toxey) of Wales, MA; a sister Gail Sloan (David) of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 7, 2017 at 12 Noon, directly at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road, Avon. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. Carol's family will receive friends after the burial at Father Bennett Hall at the Church of Saint Ann. Contributions may be made to either IEA, 840 N. Main Street, W.
