Barbara Lillian (Lothrop) Nixon, 79, of Hudson, FL and formerly of Enfield, beloved wife to William Hallet Nixon Jr. of 58 years, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 29, 2014, at Bayonet Point Medical Center. Born in Boston, MA on December 29, 1934, to the late Chester E. and Janet C. (Hay) Lothrop, she was raised in Auburn, ME and was a graduate of Edward Little High School. Barbara was very involved with all her children's activities including serving as a Girl Scout leader for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling with her husband, playing cards and bingo, collecting Snow White figurines, and participating in craft shows where she was well known for her glass bead creations as Barb's Beadery. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Mark William Nixon and his wife Trudy of Enfield; four daughters, Linda Fisher and her husband John of Springfield, MA, Susan Conte and her husband Lorenzo of Somers, Pamela Phelan and her husband William of Enfield, and Cheryl Levasseur and her husband David of Virginia Beach, VA, and her ten grandchildren, Karen, Stephen, and Daniel Nixon, Kyle Fisher, Lorenzo, Jr. and Anthony Conte, Michael and Kelly Phelan, and DJ and Kelsie Levasseur. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, September 4, from 5-7 p.m. at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. North, Suffield, CT. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5 at 11 a.m., in the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, Suffield. Burial will follow at Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield.
