Anthony Biskupic, 87, of Granby, CT, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of 40 years to the late Elizabeth "Mona" Biskupic. Son of the late Matthew Biskupic and Rosalia (Carsky) Biskupic, Tony was born on October 28, 1928 and defected from Communist Czechoslovakia in 1948 to join family members already living in the United States. He settled in New Jersey and later relocated to Granby in 1970. During the Korean Conflict, Tony honorably served in the United States Army. After completing his flight training, Tony flew for many airlines and companies before being hired in 1968 as Chief Pilot for Stanley Works. He flew for his beloved company until his retirement in 1993. Tony enjoyed being at home with his family, caring for his lawn, and maintaining his pool. He was very social and took great pride in hosting family and close friends at his home. He was an avid hockey fan and devoted New York Ranger fan, watching every game during the winter months. Tony coached many years with the Enfield Hockey Association. He leaves his son, Greg Biskupic and his wife Gina of Westfield, MA and their children Michael and Mia; grandchildren, Stefanie Blackburn and her husband Robert, Jonathan, and Nick; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Hayley; and many nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by his daughter, Beth Deutsch. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 4 – 7:30 p.m. at Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. Family and friends may gather at 9 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10 a.m. at St. Therese Church, Granby. Burial will be held in Granby Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to either the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005 or Saint Francis Foundation, 95 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT 06105.
