Annette M. (Moreau) Maher Walters, 81, of Bloomfield, formerly of Windsor, passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital on Friday, April 21, 2017. Annette was the wife of the late Robert A. Maher, Sr. and the late Richard J. Walters. She graduated from Hartford Public High School and the St. Francis School of Nursing and as a Registered Nurse worked at St. Francis Hospital for 30 years and later at Travelers and United Health Care as a Patient Advocate. Always a nurse at heart even in her retirement, Annette offered her care and compassion to her friends and neighbors. A strong and unwavering faith carried her through all of life's challenges. Annette is survived by her five children and their spouses. Ann and David Kelly of Rocky Hill, Chris and Jackie Maher of Maryland, Maureen and Bruce Yuscavitch of Windsor Locks, Kathy Maher and Lynne Genovese of Colchester and Bob and Pam Maher of East Hartford and her daughter-in-law, Esther Maher of Kentucky and her "adopted" daughter Sarah Mims and her children Lex and Xavier. She is also survived by her twelve grandchildren, Michael Kelly, Ryan Kelly, Erin Kelly, Jonathan Maher, Benjamin Maher, Erica Yuscavitch, Bobby Maher, III, Eva-Maria Maher, Joseph Maher and his wife Brianna, Matthew Maher and his wife Carrie, Kevin Maher, Andrea Maher and her great-grandson Ethan Maher. Annette also leaves her sister, Claire Walsh of Niantic, brother Bob Moreau and his wife Mary of Florida, sister Mary Acunto and her husband Matt of East Hartford, many cousins, nieces, nephews and her dear friend Christine Fiorita. She was predeceased by her mother Eva (Dionne) Moreau, brother Roger Moreau, sister Helen Moreau and her oldest son, William Maher. Her family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, April 24, from 4-7 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 25, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Avenue, Bloomfield. Everyone is asked to go directly to church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Poquonock. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Little Sisters of the Poor, Sacred Heart Church or the Office of Radio and Television of the Archdiocese of Hartford to support the daily Mass that Annette "attended" regularly. The family would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the nurses, aides and staff of "8-9" at St. Francis Hospital for their extraordinary care, compassion and professionalism given to Annette.
