DiBELLA, Angelo Nicholas Angelo Nicholas DiBella, 89, of Granby, formerly of West Hartford, beloved husband of Josephine (Ferranti) DiBella, died Saturday (February 28, 2009). He was born and raised in Hartford, son of the late Michael and Francis (Delessio) DiBella. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a member of the Signal Corps. He participated in the Normandy Invasion on D-Day June 6, 1944. He lived in Hartford most of his life before moving to West Hartford in 1979. He was employed by the Burlington Inn where he served as Head Chef for over 25 years. He was an active member and Eucharistic Minister of The Church of St. Helena in West Hartford. Angelo leaves his beloved wife Josephine, and three children, Susan and her husband Russell Roberts of Vernon, Thomas DiBella and his wife Lucille of Canton, and Karen and her husband Jack Corrigan of Southwick, MA. He was predeceased by his son Robert Michael DiBella. Angelo is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kurt Smith, Kyle Smith, Quinn Corrigan, Alex Corrigan, Kenny Corrigan, Marissa DiBella and Dylan DiBella; and a great grandchild, Sierra Moses. He is also survived by two brothers, Cornelius DiBella of Enfield and Christopher DiBella of Wethersfield; two sisters, Theresa May of Wethersfield and Anna Roark of Marlborough. He was predeceased by three brothers, Andrew, Dominick and Joseph DiBella. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 4, at 10 a.m. at The Church of St. Helena, 30 Echo Lane, West Hartford followed by burial with Military Honors in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. His family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 3, from 4-7 p.m. at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
