Ambrose M. Fiorito, 81, of East Granby, beloved husband for 38 years of the late Linda (Wolfer) Fiorito, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2017, at his home. Born in Bristol on July 28, 1935, son of the late Victor S. and Mary (Rinaldi) Fiorito, he was raised in Bristol and had lived in Granby before moving to East Granby in 1967. As a US Navy veteran, Ambrose served for three years after college until his honorable discharge as a Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTJG) in 1960. Ambrose graduated from the University of Connecticut, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Business in 1957 and later continued his education with an Associated Degree from Hartford State Technical College in Civil Engineering in 1974. After serving in the Navy, he took a position at Roncari Industries as an engineer until 1974. He then started his own company, ACI, Inc. which he ran until 1982. He later worked for the Buckland Development Corporation in Suffield and then for Galasso Materials until his retirement. Ambrose stayed busy during his retirement years working part-time for the Town of Suffield in the Engineering Department, Woodcarving, and driving his prized possession, his Porsche. He owned several Porsches over the years and he was a member of the Porsche Club of America. Most of all, Ambrose loved to travel and took two trips around the world on the Queen Elizabeth II. He leaves two children, Karen Berry and her husband Stephen of Canton and Michael A. Fiorito of Hebron, NH; a sister, Annette Fiorito of Venice, FL; four grandchildren, Scott Berry and his wife Alison of Falls Church, VA, Erin Berry of Westbrook, Emily Fiorito of Boston, MA, and Alex Fiorito of Salem, MA; his special friend and travel companion, Carol Kowalczyk of Westbrook; and his close friend of many years, Michael Laureno of Simsbury. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Angelina O'Regan. His family will receive friends on Thursday, May 11, 4-7 p.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. Burial with Military Honors will be private in Elmwood Cemetery, East Granby at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the East Granby Public Library, 24 Center St., P.O. Box G, East Granby, CT 06026.
