Allen D. Chipman, 77, of Vernon, CT passed away peacefully with his family by his side while at St. Francis Hospital, on Sunday April 23, 2017. He was born in Winsted, CT on July 22, 1939 to the late John and Ruana (Carter) Chipman. Allen spent his youth growing up in Winsted, moving to Vernon/Rockville during High School. He married the love of his life, Linda Pranchiak, and spent 47 wonderful years together until her death in 2013. Allen always put his family first, working 6 days a week making sure they were provided for. He was hardworking and loyal. He was an avid follower of history, enjoyed reading, and adored his grandchildren. Allen is survived by his son Steven Chipman and his wife Kate Rooney of Ellington; son-in-law Art Aubin; daughter-in-law Tara Chipman; his brother Rolland Chipman and his wife Dolly of NJ; grandchildren Matthew Aubin, Hunter, and Jake Chipman of Ellington, Casey Kaf Al Ghazal and her husband Basam of Houston TX, Amber and Kaylee Chipman of Orange City, FL, Connor Thompson of Vernon. Allen was predeceased by both of his parents; his beloved wife Linda; his daughter Sallie Aubin; his son Joseph Chipman; brothers John and Tim Chipman; as well as his sister Ruana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard's Church, 25 St Bernard's Terrace, Vernon, CT 06066 at 10 AM on Thursday, April 27, 2017. Interment will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Allen's memory to the Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation, P.O. Box 96280 Washington, DC 20077.
