Aline (Hoffman) Ballasy, 91, of Ellington, beloved wife and widow of 14 years of the late Ernest J. Ballasy Jr., passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 26, 2016. Born in Ellington, the daughter of the late Alfred and Emma (Bossart) Hoffman, she grew up and lived most of her life in Ellington, except for the 20 years she lived in Vernon. Prior to her retirement, Aline was a bookkeeper at the former Moser Farms for many years. She was a devoted member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Ellington. She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family. Aline enjoyed playing the piano and also gave piano lessons. She is survived by her children, Diana Roddy and her husband Gabriel of Colorado Springs, CO, Joanne Lanz and her husband Sherman of Ellington, Joel Ballasy of Oral, SD, Kent Ballasy of Oral, SD, Sheila King of Anchorage, AK, Paul Ballasy and his wife Ruthann of Ellington, and Peter Ballasy and his wife Brenda of Longwood, FL; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; her brother, Edwin Hoffman of Ellington; her sister, Lois Klotzle of CA, and many nieces and nephews. Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, 34 Middle Butcher Road, Ellington. Funeral service will be held at the church on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery.
