MAHER. Virginia S. Maher, age 90, passed away peacefully on June 12th, 2017. She was the daughter of Percy and Dorothy Fales Snelgrove. Virginia was born on February 22, 1927 in Hartford and lived in Windsor all her life. Virginia was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband, Philip B. Maher, Jr. after 55 years of marriage. After graduating John Fitch High School in 1944, Virginia had several secretarial positions until her marriage in 1953. She was a life-long member of First Church in Windsor and taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years. She also worked as Church Secretary/Office Manager for eight years. Virginia leaves her brothers Edwin Snelgrove and his wife Norma and Alan Snelgrove and his wife Lois all of Manchester. She also leaves her children Philip Maher and his wife Sun of West Simsbury, Douglas Maher and his wife Pat of Simsbury, Christopher Maher and his wife Mary-Jayne of Glastonbury, Marcia Maher Grothe and her husband Mark of South Windsor, Paula Maher Palozej and her husband Dean of Stafford, Laurinda Maher Moreno of Maine, Gordon Maher and his wife Deb of Vermont. Virginia also leaves her 19 beloved grandchildren Elise and Brent Maher; George and Hayley Maher; Ashley Maher; Garrett, Kevin and Connor Grothe; Lauren Palozej Thomas and her husband Burke, Spencer, Hayden and Everett Palozej; Cassie, Chip and Angie Moreno; Elliott, Olivia, Ian and Adam Maher and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Her family will receive friends Friday, June 16, 2017 from 2-4 PM at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Private burial will be in Palisado Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: First Church in Windsor, 107 Palisado Ave., Windsor, CT 06095.
