Tribute & Message From The Family

Carol A. (Lawrence Geithner) Katz, 79, of Windsor, beloved wife of Gerald S. Katz died peacefully on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at home, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 1, 1937 in West Haven, CT, daughter of the late John C. and Helen (Weiss) Lawrence. She was predeceased by her son, Alan Robert Geithner, whose death from cancer broke her heart, and her beloved Aunt Annie Weiss who was a steadfast source of support and guidance. A lifelong resident of Windsor, Carol grew up on Preston Street, and graduated from Windsor High School with the Class of 1955. She had a love of modern dance that began in high school and lasted a lifetime. Her home was where the neighborhood kids would hang out where she was the "Neighborhood Mom" caring for bruises, empty stomachs and need for discipline and guidance. She had a special place in her heart for animals and the elderly. Carol began her career at Kimberly Hall as a CNA and then advanced to Recreation Director. She retired from Brookview Convalescent Home in West Hartford. Along with her husband Jerry of over 30 years, she leaves her children, Debra Overbaugh and her husband Jerry of Murrells Inlet, SC, Carin Salonia and her husband Ronald of Avon, Heidi Sanborn of Manchester, Donna Colahan and her husband Wayne of Marblehead, MA, Kimberly Gajewski and her husband Jack of W. Granby, and Wendy Osada and her husband Don of Enfield; her sister, Nancy Lawrence of Jupiter, FL; 15 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. She also leaves her lifetime partners in crime, Jane Shuckerow, Diane Janusz, and Kathy Barrett, with whom she enjoyed Chinese food, the Windsor House, and vacation trips. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, June 4, 2017, from 12-1 p.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor; with a Memorial Service to follow at 1pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to ASPCA or Foodshare. Please visit us at for online condolences and guest book.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Aunt Carol - Thank you for all the wonderful memories of weekend sleep-overs, vanilla cokes at Grant's and volunteering with you and Carin at Kimberly Hall. You were a huge part of my life growing-up and you'll always be in my heart. Love to my cousins. Susie
