Semper Fi Al .

God speed.

I am thinking of Mr. Cialfi's family and thinking about Mr. Cialfi's visits with me in Worcester, MA as he drove through on his way to Maine. As a young college student, I was so lucky to enjoy several wonderful, wisdom-filled lunches with Mr. Cialfi. And, so lucky to have witnessed Mr. Cialfi and these guys from the greatest generation find each other to achieve a common goal. My dad valued his friendship in ways that I think are probably beyond words. I will keep Mr. Cialfi's kind ways and gentle sparkle in my memory always.

Sending you all my heartfelt sympathy. I have fond memories of Mr. Cialfi at my parents' home and at Iwo Jima Survivors Association events. My dad so valued his friendship. Semper Fi, indeed. I will always remember Mr. Cialfi for his ever-ready smile, quick wit, and sense of fun along with a phrase he said that has stayed with me and that I share with others: "Every day is a gift." Peace to Mr. Cialfi's family and friends.

Gary, Freddie, Laurie,

I am so sorry for your loss. Your Dad was a great guy. As kids, I can remember him showing us his war souvenirs and pictures from Iwo Jima and other battles. He was a gentleman and true American hero.
